Brandon has had an interest in boxing from a young age. He competed in his first amateur fight in 1984 in Yarrabah (North Queensland). Following this, Brandon went on to compete in 42 amatuer fights, 22 pro fights and managed to achieve 2 Queensland Boxing League titles, 3 State titles and an OBA title. Brandon competed in his last professional fight in 2000, and has since begun training amateur and professional boxers.
